On a whim, Lesley took this into a mirror in the hope that one of the castle's ghosts - it must have lots - would appear in the photo.
The house is still an home, indeed this bed is sometimes used for guests, and the family see no reason why the furniture should not be changed from time to time as in any home.
This bed, of brown oak was made by Robin Furlong of Great Wolford, about 20km away, in 1992. The small table, also by him, was made in 1997.
This is a castle so we don't have a dolls' house: we have a dolls' castle.
A different meaning to the term "kitchen garden": part of the formal garden was the kitchen range of the castle hence these windows.
The locomotive in the foreground is called Broughton Castle in memory of GWR loco
5033 Broughton Castle which worked from 1935 to 1962. The
name plate is preserved in the tea room.
