Our son George was working as a volunteer at the Buddhist
Centre for World Peace and Health on Holy Isle which is a small island off Arran, a larger island in the Firth of Clyde. We went to visit him there.
Euston to Glasgow
The white gable-end about a third of the way in from the left is 66 Sedbergh Road, Kendal and in it is the window of the bedroom that Roger had as a child. I remember watching heavy goods trains hauled by two steam locomotives with a third, "banking engine" pushing at the rear. The banking engine would then come back light to Oxenholme where it was stationed.
This was taken on the return journey. I thought I might have better luck because the train was slowing (a bit) to stop at Oxenholme. I think I have managed to get No. 66 exactly behind the tree on the left.
These two were taken on a later visit to Kendal by road

MV Caledonian Isles is one of the largest vessels in the Caledonian MacBrayne fleet. Confusingly they also have
MV Isle of Arran but that operates the Kennacraig to Islay route.

Ferry to Holy Isle
They took us to this floating jetty at the fish farm south of Lamlash. While we were waiting all the other passengers retreated to solid land for some reason but Lesley and I were perfectly happy rocking gently.

Solitary meditation is nothing new on Holy Isle. This is the cave where
Saint Molaise lived circa 600 CE. The Gaelic name for the island is
Eilean MoLaise - Molaise Island.

William Holman Hunt went to the Holy Land and painted this,
The Scapegoat beside the Dead Sea. He could have come to Holy Isle instead - even the bones could be found - see above.

Crazy golf in Shore Road. If you follow the line of the Forth Railway Bridge to the horizon, you can just see a dot which is
Hunterston Nuclear Power Station. I thought this would go nicely on Geograph but unfortunately they have …

Description. In summer it is on dry land. See also this

Dining Room
When the monastery was starting, I think they must have asked visitors please bring your own crockery and cutlery and donate them to us. They have a wonderfully diverse collection.
